DONCASTER ST LEGER 1834

The 59th winner of the St Leger, held on Tuesday 16th September 1834 over the St Leger course on Town Moor, was Touchstone, a brown colt by Camel out of Banter, owned by the Marquis of Westminster. A field of 11 runners contested the race, although there were 71 subscriptions of 50 sovereigns each, which was worth 3550 sovereigns. (Equivalent to £390,500 in 2017)
